Rewrite Your Story: The Power of the Gemini Full Moon
The Gemini Full Moon on December 15, 2024, shines a bright light on what’s “sprouted” from your intentions at the start of this lunar cycle on November 30.
Did you set intentions? If not, think about what you’ve been working on over the past two weeks.
Has everything gone according to plan, or have you faced unexpected twists and turns?
And most importantly, what stories have been playing in the background as you’ve gone after your dreams?
Ruled by Mercury, which turns direct just around the time of this Full Moon, the energy carries an electric buzz. It’s exciting, but it might also feel overwhelming—like being plugged into a live wire.
Self-Care Tip: Take time to slow down and breathe when you start to feel frazzled from ALL.THE.THINGS. You’ll actually be more efficient and creative when grounded and steady.
With Mercury forming a grand trine with Mars in Leo and the North Node, this lunation brings inspiration, creativity, and the courage to take aligned action toward your vision. Add in the Full Moon’s sextile to Chiron in Aries, and it becomes a fiery initiation into a new narrative for your life.
The Stories We Tell Ourselves
Our young, impressionable minds shape our stories in response to early experiences.
We all have them—those little voices in the back of our minds:
“Who am I to teach this? I don’t know enough yet.”
“I’m so awkward on camera; no one would take me seriously.”
“What if I mess everything up as a parent?”
These narratives often stem from the beliefs we adopted while growing up. Our young, impressionable minds shaped these stories in response to our experiences. The problem? These stories often continue to run our lives long after they’ve stopped serving us.
At the start of this lunar cycle, maybe you were inspired to write a book, launch a soul-aligned project, or take your career to the next level. But let’s be honest: did everything fall perfectly into place? Or did obstacles and doubts show up along the way?
Here’s the truth: whenever we set big intentions that push us beyond our comfort zones, we inevitably meet the parts of ourselves that resist change. These parts cling to old stories—narratives designed to protect us but now holding us back.
My (Outdated) Story
As I go after my big dreams, the story that echoes in the background (sometimes loudly) is: “You’re never going to succeed.”
Despite the love and encouragement I received growing up, I internalized this message during moments when I made mistakes or fell short. Those moments planted a seed of doubt that still whispers to me today, especially when I’m allowing myself to share my gifts visibly and step into my light.
Right now, I’m deeply inspired. I’m writing a mini book, planning a summit, and collaborating with Brett on a horoscope show. These projects light me up, but they also challenge that inner voice—the one that says I’m not ready, that I’m not capable, that I’ll never “make it.”
But here’s the truth (especially important under a Sagittarius Moon cycle): that voice is just a story. It’s not fact. It’s a narrative shaped by old wounds, and I have the power to rewrite it—if I’m willing to get uncomfortable.
Rewriting Your Story Under the Full Moon
The Gemini Full Moon offers the perfect opportunity to examine, heal, and rewrite the stories we tell ourselves. These stories shape how we see the world—and more importantly, how we see ourselves.
Here’s a simple journaling and visualization process to work with this energy:
1. Identify the Old Story
Sit down with a journal, light a candle and sink into your body with a few deep breaths.
Now feel or listen for - What’s the narrative that comes up when you think about your big goals or dreams?
You might start by following a sensation in your body and as you take a few moments to really feel it, you’ll hear the story.
Example: “I’m not good enough to make this happen.”
2. Challenge Its Truth
Is this story objectively true? What evidence do you have that contradicts it?
Think back to a concrete time when clearly this wasn’t the case. What did that feel like?
Is there an additional story that comes in when you think about this?
3. Use Your Imagination (Inspired by NLP Techniques)
Close your eyes now. Visualize your old story playing out on the screen of your imagination.
Now shrink the screen, make it black and white, and play a silly song in the background.
How does it feel now?
4. Rewrite the Story
From this empowered state, write a new version of the story that uplifts and supports you.
Example: “I am resourceful, creative, and capable of learning as I go.”
You can be as detailed as you want. Write the story down in your journal and for bonus points pick out a key phrase from it and write it on your mirror.
5. Anchor It
Speak your new story aloud or visualize yourself thriving in alignment with this new narrative. Adding a unique movement—like a particular dance more or a hand gesture while embodying this new story—helps integrate it further.
I personally also love putting it to a melody. Music is so catchy!
Closing Thoughts
The sextile between the Full Moon and Chiron in Aries emphasizes healing old wounds, especially those tied to self-worth and identity. This isn’t about erasing the past—it’s about using it as a foundation for growth.
If you’re going to do just one thing to make yourself 1% better this month (I’m loving this concept lately!), ask yourself:
What old story am I holding onto?
What new story am I ready to write?
For me, I’m choosing to let go of the story that says I’m not enough and replace it with one of confidence, capability, and willingness to fail and try again.
